Andrew Gowen is a Manhattan-based photographer from the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA.
Andrew uses the medium of photography to create palpable, melancholic compositions of the world. Andrew explores the idea of loss in all its forms. For him, it is the feeling of attempting to retrace every step leading up to the moment before you lost your keys. This constant search for an idea that cannot be described and a thirst that will never be satisfied. Driven by aesthetics, muted colors emphasize the mundanity of daily life that this search takes place in. As Roland Barthes' wrote, "I love, not what he is, but that he is".
